Tonight when we arrived home, Gavin got very excited. He jumped out of the car and said, "Look Mommy! I see Brady's car! It looks like he's home!" Sadly, I had to explain that I dropped off Daddy on Saturday and that he left his car here for us to use. He wasn't paying attention when we got home yesterday or left for school this morning so he didn't realize the car had been here all along. (Side note: Gavin sometimes talks about us using our real names, though he never actually calls us anything besides Mommy and Daddy).
At that point, I teared back up. This morning was a rough one. I cried a few times (thankfully, I got it together before my students arrived). It felt great though to be back in my normal routine with my students, doing what I love to do. Driving home after school I was at peace with the normalcy of the day, but Gavin's excitement at the thought that Daddy might be home reminded me how much I wished he were home. I cried through dinner and then was able to get it together again. Of course, now that I'm remembering it, I'm crying. Thankfully, Gavin did not get upset about Daddy being gone still and was happy to talk to him on the phone before bed.
XOXO,
